Scentwork Classes

Looking to learn a fun and new skill with your dog? Want to get into a new hobby that builds on your dogs natural instincts? Want to increase the bond and relationship between you and your dog? Then Talking Dogs Scentwork is ideal for you!

Scentwork is all about teaching your dog to search for a particular scent, building from simple searches onto more complicated search areas and patterns. The course is suitable for dogs of all abilities from beginners to advanced, so whether you have previous experience of scentwork or are completely new to this exciting activity, this course is tailored to you!

This is a 4 or 5 week course, depending on which option you chose (see options below). Small group classes lasting 1.5 hours per session. Please note classes are held every other week throughout May on Friday mornings, 09.30am-11.00am. The final 2 weeks will be held on 7th and 14th June (see details of dates below).

Classes will be taught using Talking Dogs Scentwork training methods, which are positive and reward based, and adapted to meet the individual needs of each dog. Please note, we only use active indications. Searches will take place both indoors and outside (weather permitting).

Course options:

- Option 1: A 5 week course starting on 3rd May - £80. This course will include a session on the theory behind scentwork and will mean by the end of the course you will have completed all the criteria of the Talking Dogs Scent 1 workshop. You will receive a certificate of attendance and can more onto the Talking Dogs Scent 2 stage if you wish.

- Option 2: A 4 week course starting on 17th May - £60. For those who have already completed Talking Dogs Scent 1 and want to join the course to practice and improve their scentwork skills further, or do not wish to follow the Talking Dogs Program but do wish to practice scentwork with their dog.
